I see design as essential. Not design as in styling. But the decision of what to include and what to leave out.
My foundation is in engineering. Then I discovered design. Designers shape experiences around humans.
Design for the extremes and the rest will follow. Niche customers in niche situations. The sandwich was designed by a lazy person not the average joe.
Great design is competitive advantage. It helps you to understand customers deeper, deliver sharper solutions, and hook them through their hopes and dreams.
Designers are entrepreneurs. I always loved business and economics. As a designer, you have to navigate the corporate environment. You have about 15% for your art; the rest is constrained.
